📈 Winners and Losers of the week
THIS WEEK'S WINNERS & LOSERS
yo - shaan here!
today, i wanna introduce ben to y'all: he's my biz partner and he's great at finding cool shit on the internet.
he's been helping with content for 2+ years and was writing 80% of the first few editions of Winners and Losers, so it's time I officially pass the pen to him.
ben, take it away!
Winner: Justin Bieber
For selling his back catalog of music for $200M this week.
It’s a win because:
$200M can buy you 190,000,000 McChickens off the dollar menu (incl. tax)
His fans were 13 years old when he was popular. Their tastes will change.
This is $200m just for his share of the catalog (total catalog is probably $1B+)
Oh, and he’s also a winner because one of the 280,000 people he follows on twitter is shaan:
Loser: Coinbase
Surojit Chatterjee, Coinbase's Chief Product Officer, quit after 2 years and walked away with a cool $115 million.
That's a ton of money to shell out for anyone, but hey, worth it if they delivered.
In this case, he did not deliver. Surojit's biggest launch was their NFT platform which had 38 sales yesterday. Total. That's less than the number of Sweetgreen salads I ate this month (i'm on that new year health kick).
Winner: My brother for going viral (again)
My older brother keeps going viral. He tweeted this joke, and it got over 400,000 (!!) likes.
My wife is in a Facebook group called Buy Nothing where people list stuff they’re giving away.
The other day, a lady came to our house to pick up two granola bars that we didn’t like

I guess he’s officially the funny one in the family.
Loser: My brother, for only gaining 400 followers and only making $23 after going insanely viral
This random light company paid him $23 to post 3 times under the tweet. LOL.
Bring the theater to your room with this mini projector! 📽

What is this, Taboola for Ants?!
Winner: Chicken N Pickle
I went deep on pickleball in the past few weeks after realizing I was actually good at it.
Check this out: Chicken N Pickle is a new franchise that serves food & let’s you play pickleball.
They have 8 locations across the country and are rapidly expanding.
I heard the company is valued at $100m+ already (sounds high, might be bullsh*t)
Still, great name and hopefully great chicken…winner!
Until next week,
