one minute blog: a kick in the pants

check this out and lmk what you think

This is the One Minute Blog (OMB). Just 472 words of Grade-A, all organic, brain food for your weekend.

Shh… What’s that sound?

I think I hear my leg, winding up, ready to give you a kick in the pants.

Because there are only 67 days left in the year.

67 days… Just enough time to do the thing

The thing? Yep. The thing.

Whatever your thing is. Write the book. Quit the job. Launch the business. Ask her out. Take the trip.

Doesn’t matter. Whatever your thing is. Do it.

My thing?  I’m getting into the best shape of my life. (which in my case, just means getting in shape - for the first time ever).

67 days. That’s the perfect amount of time.

Long enough to actually make a change that shifts your life trajectory. Short enough where you can’t procrastinate.

I’m usually not big on ‘motivation’. I don’t like the rah-rah stuff. I like strategy. Insights. Tactics.

But as I get older and I look at the people I admire around me, one thing is obvious — very rarely do they have some secret strategy.

Their strategy IS intensity. And sure enough, intensity is the best strategy.

Most people take “average” action and get “average” results. They take “massive action” and get “massive results”.

The difference between ‘average’ and ‘exceptional’ is measured in action, not inches.

Just look at MrBeast. There are 63.8 million youtube creators. So why him? Is he smarter? More handsome? Funnier? Just lucky?

I’ve gotten to know him, and watched him work - sure he’s talented, but it’s his intensity that stands out.

I use him as an example, because unlike most jobs, the “practice is in public” for YouTube. We don’t know how Michael Jordan practiced, or how Warren Buffett honed his investing skills – but YouTubers literally post every “attempt” publicly, for us to see. (What a gift!)

Go to his channel and click “oldest” - you’ll see 100s of crappy gaming videos.

You can literally see all his shots on goal that missed or partially hit.

His first big hits, are videos that he could do in his bedroom when he had no resources (eg. sitting in a chair, and counting to 100,000 for 23 hours straight)

His story of success isn’t luck and talent. It’s intensity and action. Taking hundreds of shots, and continuing to try variations until something starts to work.

He’s been doing that for 12 years straight. Can you do it for 67 days?

Don’t worry about a plan. Just start. Don’t wait.

Waiting for Jan 1 to make a ‘resolution’? That's Webster's Dictionary definition of ‘small boy stuff’.

If you’re on this newsletter, you’re on my team. And on my team…we don’t wait.

67 days! GO!

P.S. - I started 4 days ago. By the end of the year, I’m going to be in the best shape of my life.

My EA texts me every morning “did you do it?” and then she keeps track of it in a spreadsheet like this:

If you want an assistant that can help you with not just your work stuff, but life stuff too. Hit me up, happy to introduce you to the team that I used to find Gaby!
