I call this the “Law of Corporate Bullsh*t”

You know how companies have values like “Excellence!” “Integrity!” etc..

Those are useless in practice. Who doesn’t love excellence.

If the company says we do [THING], then it needs to come with the acknowledgement of the tradeoff otherwise it’s just corporate fluff.

For example: Facebook’s motto wasn’t “move fast!” - it was “move fast, and break things” (acknowledging the tradeoff of moving fast)
