Before you play the game, study the winners. If you don’t want their life, don’t play their game.

I quit poker because even the few winning players looked miserable. Their life was sitting, alone, for 8 hours a day inside a casino.
Hobbies, jobs, restaurants - just look at the regulars. If don’t want to look like them, don’t do it.
Look at the people who are winning the game, if you don’t like their life, don’t play their game.

The entire self-help industry in one sentence: Do what makes mornings exciting and nights peaceful.
Will this make me excited to wake up? Will this let me sleep in peace?
Everything that fails both tests is noise.

I like this simple “morning & night” test for making decisions:
Will this make me more excited to wake up?
Will this let me sleep in peace?
If it’s a “no” for either one, the decision is worth re-considering.

Under-discussed happiness hack: A state change every day at 3pm. I've never met anyone who is their best self at 3pm. It's a biological breeding ground for depressive thoughts and low agency. Break the doom loop. Design a 3pm routine. You'll be happier *and* more productive.

I feel this. By 3pm - my work drops off a cliff.
So I don’t waste “good hours on low energy”. Instead, I charge my battery at 3pm with:
A 30 minute nap
A piano lesson (1hr)
Or go play/swim with the kids

Let me tell you about one of my favorite quotes:
“Never write an advertisement which you wouldn't want your own family to read. The consumer isn’t a moron, she’s your wife. You wouldn't tell lies to your own wife. Don't tell them to mine.”
To me, you’re family. So I wouldn’t lie to you either.
And when it comes to my banking** services, I use Mercury.
I use it for my personal account. My business accounts. Everything. In total, I have 6+ accounts with them.
That’s why I’m confident in recommending it, because I know it works and I know what it does.
