I’m feeling this today. Sore from doing a ‘murph’ workout yesterday. My grand challenge for the year (my ‘misogi’) is to do the Murph in under 1 hour:

• Run 1 mile

• 100 pullups

• 200 pushups

• 300 squats

• Run another mile

I know guys that can just do a murph casually on a weekend for fun. For me, I hadn’t run a mile since 7th grade, and on Jan 1 my pullup max was 3.

I’m halfway through the year training, and I can do a half murph. Pullups are the hardest bit. I’m now up to 50 pullups (10 sets of 5).

This tweet hits. “Everyday gets a little easier, but you gotta do it everyday, that’s the hard part.”

Reminds me of that great clip from Buzz Williams (college basketball coach) where he talks about being an everyday guy. You gotta be an everyday guy. Lots of guys are someday guys. But you gotta be an everyday guy.
