š 5 Tweet Tuesday š
My favorite 5 tweets of the week. Letās dive in:
#1 š
PREACH.
I recently paid a lady $15k to come declutter my entire house. For years, we just bought so much STUFF. 5 years, 3 kids, Amazon, Christmas, etc⦠We were like the government. Everything came in, nothing came out.
In the first 8 hours, we transformed the entire first floor of the house. We opened that āmiscellaneous junk drawerā in the kitchen that weād avoided for years. We donated toys and threw away old junk that we didnāt need.
I was shocked how little time it took. I had avoided the task for years, and it took like 8 hours to make a huge difference.

As a world-class cheese lover, I had to learn more:
Parmigiano cheese takes 12ā36 months to age (before it can be sold)
But farmers need cash now
So they give over their wheels of cheese to a special bank (āThe Fort Knox of Cheeseā)
The bank lends 60-80% of the value, 3-5% interest
The bank ages the cheese in its own climate controlled warehouses
Miss a payment and they sell your cheese
Now because of the heat, the banks are forced to spend more on cooling/energy costs, and cows at the farms are laying down in the heat and producing less milk.
Well, now ya know.

I love this tweet. As a recovering self improver, you notice that people get āaddicted to the checkupā.
Self improvement starts as a good idea. āI want to improve this weakness of mineā - of course. Who can argue with that?
But like all things, the dose makes the poison. Too much self improvement becomes an obsession with yourself. With your flaws. Self awareness can easily become self hatred as you focus on flaws.
This is the inner version of celebrities who start getting plastic surgery to fix a wrinkle and soon are unrecognizable wax zombies.
Gotta balance self improvement with self respect. Being proud of who you are now. Not just focused on being a better you in the future.

We have Presidents Day, Pride Week, how about Delusional December?

#6 š Brought To You By Mercury
Hereās a dumb little dance I used to do at least once a weekā¦
I look at our company finances
I want to know āhow much cash do we actually have right now?ā
I open the dashboard, click the (wrong) tab, click another tab, export a spreadsheet, squint at the spreadsheet, give up, then ask someone on Slack
(if you know, you know)
Now I just use Command. Itās a chat built right into my Mercury account ā you tell it what you want, and it does it.
āMove $500 to savings every payday.ā Done.
āHow much runway do I have?ā Boom, real number.
āCategorize these transactions and add the GL codes.ā Easy.
Itās like being able to text with your bank. And because it lives inside Mercury, every answer comes from your live data, and it only does what your permissions already allow.
Visit mercury.com/command to learn more and apply online in minutes.
